Dear Civil Colleagues,

On the basis of the positive results of the past two years of the "Building Bridges of Democracy" project (Vienna-Bratislava in 2000, Vienna in 2001), the third phase of the programme, in form of an international conference, will take place in Budapest-Szentendre, Hungary on 28-30 June, 2002. The project is developed in the partnership of The World of NGOs (Austria), SAIA - Service Centre for the Third Sector (Slovakia), the European House (Hungary), Civic Initiatives and the Center for the Development of the Nonprofit Sector (Yugoslavia) and is organised under the auspices of CIVICUS in Europe.

The overall purpose of the project is to develop an understanding and awareness of civil society in the region, the evolving democratic processes especially in South Eastern Europe and to promote the idea of European integration.

The international conference will take place in Budapest and Szentendre (25 km north of Budapest) including a boat trip on the River Danube.
