the challenges facing humanity. CIVICUS' special purpose,
therefore, is to help nurture the foundation, growth, protection,
and resourcing of citizen action throughout the world.
Aims and objectives:
CIVICUS: World Alliance
for Citizen Participation is an international organisation
dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society
throughout the world.
In order to respond more directly and effectively to
the needs of and serving better its more than 100 member organisations
in the region, after a long preparatory process the CIVICUS
European Regional Office was set up in January 2000 in the
offices of one of its Hungarian member organisations, the
European
House in Budapest. It carries out its activities under
the guidance and supervision of an elected Board.
